Ultra-thin 2-way in-ceiling speaker
Origin Acoustics TF37EX
The Origin Acoustics TF37EX is a 2-way in-ceiling speaker from the Explorer ThinFit Collection, designed for residential and light-commercial audio installations where ceiling depth is at a premium. With a mounting depth of only 1 21/32 inches (42 mm), it fits into cavities that would rule out conventional architectural speakers — without sacrificing real audio performance. Quad 3-inch polypropylene woofers and a 3/4-inch aluminum tweeter deliver balanced, musical sound across a wide 120 Hz–20 kHz frequency range. At 30 W RMS and 100 W peak with 89 dB sensitivity and 6-ohm impedance, the TF37EX integrates easily into multi-zone distributed audio systems and home theater setups alike.

Fits Where Others Cannot
The TF37EX requires only 1 21/32 inches (42 mm) of mounting depth behind the ceiling — less than half the clearance needed by most conventional in-ceiling designs. This makes it the right call whenever a structural element, HVAC duct, or shallow floor joist is discovered behind the drywall mid-installation. Rather than replanning the speaker layout or chasing alternative locations, the installer can proceed as intended. The result for the end user is a complete, evenly distributed audio system without compromise — exactly where the room layout calls for it.

Quad-Woofer Design for Real Low-End
Rather than using a single large woofer — which is impractical in such a shallow enclosure — Origin Acoustics mounts four 3-inch polypropylene woofers in the TF37EX. This array achieves significantly greater total cone area than a single driver of comparable diameter, recovering much of the bass output and dynamic headroom that shallow mounting depth would otherwise cost. The progressive suspension design controls cone excursion precisely, preventing distortion at higher volumes. In practice, music and dialogue both reproduce with more body and presence than the slim profile would suggest, which is a meaningful advantage in open-plan rooms where bass tends to dissipate quickly.

Weather-Resistant Construction for Expanded Applications
The TF37EX carries a weather-resistant frame and cone material, qualifying it for environments beyond the typical living room. It is suitable for covered outdoor areas, covered patios, saunas, bathrooms with adequate ventilation, and marine applications such as yacht saloons or below-deck cabins. For integrators, this means a single SKU can cover a broader range of project zones — from living areas and bedrooms to covered terraces and boat interiors — reducing the number of product lines to stock and support. The end user benefits from consistent sonic character throughout all zones of a property, regardless of humidity levels.

Discreet Magnetic Grille for Clean Finishes
The 10-inch magnetic grille attaches without visible screws or clips, producing a smooth, flush ceiling surface that is easy to paint and virtually invisible once installed. For end customers who value interior aesthetics — and they almost always do — this is a decisive practical detail: the grille can be painted to match any ceiling colour, and removing or re-attaching it for occasional tweeter adjustment or servicing takes seconds without tools. The 8 3/4-inch cutout diameter is also standard enough that templating and hole-cutting are quick, keeping installation time per unit low.

Wide Amplifier Compatibility for Flexible System Design
At 6 ohms nominal impedance and 89 dB sensitivity, the TF37EX can be driven by amplifiers rated anywhere from 5 W to 90 W per channel. This makes it compatible with compact zone amplifiers at the budget-conscious end of a distributed audio system, as well as with premium multi-channel amplifiers in a dedicated home theater context. The 100-watt peak handling also means the speaker won't be stressed by occasional dynamic peaks from high-power amplifiers, reducing the risk of driver failure over time. Integrators can spec a single speaker into projects of varying scale without worrying about amplifier mismatch.
