Tinned OFC Conductors for Corrosion Resistance
The conductors are made from oxygen-free copper (OFC) with a tin coating applied over each strand. OFC removes the impurities that introduce micro-resistance in standard copper, ensuring a low-loss signal path. The tinning layer adds a critical second benefit: it acts as a barrier against oxidation caused by moisture, salt air, and temperature cycling — the main failure modes in outdoor or semi-exposed speaker runs. In practice this means connections stay bright and low-resistance over many years without the green patina and increased contact resistance that untinned copper develops. The UV-stabilised HD PVC outer jacket is formulated to withstand prolonged sunlight exposure without cracking, hardening, or losing flexibility. Combined with the UL CMR riser rating, this cable can begin a run inside the wall, exit through a soffit or conduit fitting, and continue to an outdoor speaker box — all with the same cable and without an additional junction or transition piece. The cable is also cold-bend tested to -20°C, so it remains workable and does not crack during winter installs or in unheated spaces.
