SCP 14/4SPTC-DB-152M — ProSeries outdoor direct burial speaker cable
The SCP 14/4SPTC-DB-152M is a ProSeries direct burial and outdoor speaker cable engineered for demanding landscape audio, high-end home theater, and professional outdoor AV installations. Designed to be buried directly in the ground without conduit, it features tinned oxygen-free copper conductors that resist corrosion in wet soil environments. The gel-filled, UV sun-resistant LLDPE jacket delivers exceptional weatherproofing, puncture resistance, and cold-temperature flexibility down to -20°C, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use. Supplied on a 152m/500ft wooden spool, it suits large-scale residential and commercial landscape speaker deployments.

Tinned Copper Conductors Resist Corrosion
Standard bare copper corrodes relatively quickly when buried in damp soil or exposed to moisture, which can degrade signal quality over time and cause intermittent faults. This cable uses 105-strand tinned oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors — the tin coating acts as a barrier against oxidation and corrosion, preserving both conductivity and mechanical integrity over years underground. For landscape audio systems where re-digging to replace cable is disruptive and expensive, this is a meaningful long-term reliability advantage. The high strand count (105 strands at 0.16mm) also adds flexibility, making the cable easier to route through tight paths or around obstacles during installation.

Gel-Filled Weatherproof Construction
The cable is flooded with a moisture-blocking gel inside the jacket, filling all voids around the conductors. This prevents water ingress along the cable run — a critical requirement for direct burial without conduit, where the cable is in direct contact with soil that can be saturated for extended periods. Without this protection, even small water paths inside the cable can cause insulation breakdown, noise, or complete failure. The gel fill works together with the LLDPE outer jacket to create a fully sealed system, suitable for garden installations, pool surrounds, and other permanently wet environments where the cable will never be accessible for routine inspection.

UV & Cold-Weather Rated LLDPE Jacket
The outer jacket is manufactured from Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) with UV sun-resistance additives. Standard PVC jackets can become brittle and crack when exposed to sustained sunlight or freezing temperatures, which creates entry points for water and mechanical failure points. This LLDPE jacket maintains flexibility at -20°C (verified by a 4-hour cold bend test with no cracking) and resists UV degradation for above-ground or partially exposed runs such as cable exits from the ground, along fence lines, or into weatherproof speaker enclosures. The operating temperature range extends to +75°C, covering even sun-heated surfaces in warm climates.

Dual-Region Compliance: UL & EN50575 EuroClass Dca
The cable carries North American ratings (UL CMR, cUL FT4, NEC Type CL3R/CL2R at 75°C) and the EU/EMEA construction product regulation rating (EN50575 EuroClass Dca-s3,d2,a3). This dual certification makes it straightforward to specify for projects in either market without sourcing a different SKU, and satisfies fire safety requirements for permanent wiring installations in both residential and commercial buildings. It is also fully RoHS II/III and REACH compliant, meeting EU/UK environmental regulations — relevant for projects where compliance documentation is required.
