Professional 5.25-inch commercial in-ceiling speaker
Origin PRO PC50B
The Origin PRO PC50B is a commercial-grade 2-way in-ceiling loudspeaker engineered for integrators who demand both audiophile-quality sound and professional-grade installation features. Designed for restaurants, retail spaces, hotels, offices, and houses of worship, the PC50B combines a 5.25-inch IMPP woofer with a 3/4-inch silk DSPD pivoting tweeter to deliver wide, controlled coverage across any room. Its multi-tap transformer supports both 70V and 100V distributed audio systems as well as 6-ohm direct wiring, giving integrators maximum flexibility across different system architectures. UL-listed and fully safety-compliant, the PC50B is built to meet the demands of commercial installations — from challenging plenum spaces to demanding seismic environments.

Patented DSPD Tweeter with Multi-Motion Pivot
The 3/4-inch silk Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DSPD) tweeter is one of Origin PRO's defining technologies. Unlike a conventional dome tweeter, the DSPD suspension attaches at both the voice coil and the dome peak, which prevents the diaphragm from deforming at higher output levels. The result is dramatically lower distortion and the ability to cross over at a lower frequency — so the tweeter handles more of the audible range cleanly, instead of leaving the woofer to struggle in frequencies it handles less precisely. Combined with Multi-Motion Pivot (MMP), the tweeter can be directed up to 30 degrees in any direction after installation. In practice, this means the treble can be aimed precisely at a listening zone — a bar counter, a dining area, a reception desk — regardless of where the ceiling cutout happens to be. The listener hears a consistently articulate top end rather than the diffuse, reflected sound typical of fixed-tweeter budget in-ceiling speakers.

Widest Coverage in the PC Range: 120° Conical
At 120 degrees of conical coverage, the PC50B offers the broadest dispersion of any model in Origin PRO's in-ceiling lineup — wider than the PC60 (115°) or the PC80 (100°). This matters in commercial installations where speaker count needs to be minimised while still achieving even sound levels throughout the space. Fewer speakers per zone mean lower hardware cost, fewer ceiling cutouts, and a quicker installation — while listeners anywhere in the coverage area experience consistent volume and tonal balance. The PC50B's wide dispersion makes it particularly well-suited for lower-ceiling commercial spaces such as corridors, retail aisles, small dining rooms, and open-plan offices, where a tighter-pattern speaker would create hot spots and dead zones.

Front-Mounted Multi-Tap 70V-100V Transformer
The PC50B includes a premium, nearly transparent multi-tap transformer mounted at the front of the basket — accessible without removing the speaker from the ceiling. Taps are available at 70V (30W, 15W, 7.5W, 3.75W) and 100V (30W, 15W, 7.5W), plus a direct 6-ohm mode for low-impedance installations. Front-mounting means an integrator can change the tap setting during commissioning or after handover without pulling the speaker — a genuine time-saver on larger projects where the amp topology is finalised late, or where coverage zones need rebalancing after furniture placement. Origin PRO's design priority on transformer quality means the audio fidelity in distributed mode is noticeably cleaner than budget commercial speakers, which often use low-grade transformers that roll off high frequencies and introduce audible compression at louder taps.

Commercial Safety Certifications for Plenum Spaces
The PC50B holds UL 1480A (Standard for Speakers for Commercial and Professional Use) and UL 2043 (Fire Test for Heat and Visible Smoke Release in Air-Handling Spaces), alongside NFPA 70 and NFPA 90A compliance. UL 2043 is specifically required for equipment installed above suspended ceilings in plenum air-return spaces — a common requirement in commercial construction that eliminates a large category of consumer-grade and budget commercial speakers from consideration. NFPA 90A compliance similarly qualifies the PC50B for HVAC-adjacent ceiling installations. For integrators, these certifications mean the product will pass specification review, building inspection, and insurance assessment without additional documentation — avoiding the costly retrofit or replacement that follows non-compliant installs.

Integrator-Friendly Hardware and Wiring
Beyond the acoustic specification, the PC50B includes a full set of features that speed up commercial installation: an integrated conduit lock for securing cable conduit to the speaker basket, heavy-duty spring-loaded dog-ears for clamping into drywall or plaster ceilings without a back-box, and Euro-block (phoenix connector) terminals that accept pre-terminated cable runs without soldering or bare-wire connections under pressure. A safety strap connection point is included for compliance with seismic requirements in applicable regions. Low-profile paintable grilles — available in round or square — reduce ceiling visibility and allow the speaker to be colour-matched to any ceiling finish on site. A tile bridge accessory (sold separately or as -TB variant) is available for suspended tile ceiling installations.
