Offset ceiling plate for projector installations
Chief CMA330
The Chief CMA330 is an 20,3 cm (8") offset ceiling plate designed to anchor projector ceiling mounts to flat ceiling surfaces using standard 1.5" NPT threaded extension columns. The built-in 4,4 cm offset lifts the plate away from the ceiling, creating a cable exit channel that allows signal and power cables to be routed cleanly through the extension column and out the top of the plate — eliminating exposed cabling at the ceiling level. With a robust weight capacity of 226,8 kg and a UL Listing, the CMA330 is suited for professional AV integrators installing projectors in classrooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, and other commercial venues where a clean, professional finish is essential.

Integrated Cable Management via Offset Design
The 4,4 cm offset built into the CMA330 is the defining feature of this ceiling plate. Unlike a flat plate that sits flush against the ceiling, the offset creates a channel between the plate and the ceiling surface, providing a dedicated exit point for cables. Projector signal cables, power leads, and control wiring are routed up through the interior of the extension column and exit cleanly at the top of the plate — fully concealed from view within the ceiling cavity. The result is a finished installation with no exposed wiring at the projector end, which is particularly valuable in corporate boardrooms, classrooms, and houses of worship where a clean aesthetic is expected. It also simplifies future servicing, since cables are accessible and organised rather than bundled outside the column.

226,8 kg Weight Capacity — Broad Projector Compatibility
The CMA330 is rated to support up to 226,8 kg, far exceeding the weight of virtually any installed projector on the market. This headroom is important not because projectors approach this limit, but because it ensures the ceiling plate is never the weakest link in an overhead mounting chain — the column, projector mount, and ceiling anchor can be specified on their own merits without the plate becoming a constraint. For integrators, this also simplifies project documentation and sign-off: a single plate model covers all projector categories from compact laser units to large-venue cinema projectors, reducing the need to stock multiple SKUs.
Clean cables. Stable mount. Any drop height.

Universal 1.5" NPT Thread — Works with Any CMS Column
The CMA330 accepts any standard 1.5" NPT pipe threaded on both ends, which is the industry-standard thread used across Chief's complete CMS extension column range — both fixed-length and adjustable models. This means integrators can freely combine the CMA330 with whichever column length the ceiling height requires, without compatibility concerns. It also opens the possibility of using off-the-shelf NPT pipe from local suppliers for non-standard drop heights, giving additional flexibility on custom installations where a standard column length does not fit. The standardised thread pattern is a practical advantage when planning multi-room rollouts or when sourcing replacement parts.

UL Listed — Meets Safety Requirements for Commercial Installs
The CMA330 carries a UL Listing, confirming that the product has been independently tested and evaluated against applicable safety standards for overhead mounting applications. For integrators working in schools, government buildings, or corporate environments, UL Listing is frequently a contractual or building-code requirement — and having it on record simplifies the approval process with facility managers and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction). It also demonstrates that the structural claims around weight capacity are backed by third-party verification rather than manufacturer self-certification alone.
