The Chief CMS0305 is an adjustable extension column designed to position ceiling-mounted projectors and flat panel displays at exactly the right height. Compatible with any Chief 1.5" NPT ceiling plate or accessory, it suits corporate meeting rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and other permanent AV installations where drop height from the ceiling must be precisely set on-site. The column adjusts from 91 to 152 cm and is built from aluminium for a lightweight yet strong structure. A set screw and threaded connections on both ends keep the installation secure and stable once height has been dialled in, while integrated cable management keeps the installation tidy and professional.

The CMS0305 uses a notched column design that allows the drop length to be changed in approximately 2.5 cm increments without disassembling the mount or removing the projector. This is a meaningful operational advantage during installation: the integrator can make fine adjustments after the column is already in the ceiling plate, shaving significant time off the commissioning process. A set screw locks the chosen length firmly in place, preventing any creep from vibration in active environments such as conference rooms with HVAC or mechanical equipment nearby. The result is a stable, set-and-forget installation that does not require revisits for re-tightening.
Universal 1.5" NPT Compatibility
Both ends of the CMS0305 carry standard 1.5" NPT (National Pipe Thread) threads, making it interchangeable with the full Chief ceiling plate ecosystem — including flat ceiling plates, above-tile enclosures, and storage boxes — as well as third-party accessories sharing the same thread standard. This universality means the column can be paired with whatever ceiling construction the project demands, whether a standard gypsum board ceiling, an exposed structure with a suspended plate, or a 2×2 plenum-rated storage box. Specifying a single column SKU across varied project types reduces the need to stock multiple adapter parts.
Integrated Flow-Through Cable Management
The column is hollow with an integrated cable port at one end, allowing signal and power cables to be routed cleanly through the interior of the pole rather than alongside it. In finished ceiling environments — meeting rooms, classrooms, hospitality spaces — this makes a significant difference to the visual quality of the installation: no exposed conduit, no cable ties on the outside of the column. Cables exit neatly at the point of connection to the projector mount, maintaining a professional appearance that end customers notice and appreciate, and eliminating the liability of exposed cables that could be snagged or damaged.
