This means it pairs directly with Chief's CMS and CMS0 series columns, giving the integrator full flexibility to set the drop length independently from the ceiling adapter. NPT compatibility also means the plate works with standard 1.5" trade-size pipe available from electrical/plumbing wholesalers, which is useful for custom-length drops or retrofit situations where standard column lengths don't quite fit. There is no need for proprietary adapters between the ceiling plate and the column.
