Portrait ceiling menu board for 3-display digital signage
Chief LCM3X1UP
The Chief LCM3X1UP is a Fusion series ceiling-mounted menu board solution designed for quick-service restaurants, retail environments, and any venue where wall space is unavailable or impractical. It suspends three displays side by side in portrait orientation from the ceiling, forming a wide, visually cohesive digital signage array. Multiple units can be combined end-to-end to extend the board run for larger deployments. Engineered for ease of installation and post-installation serviceability, the LCM3X1UP suits integrators who need a reliable, modular ceiling display infrastructure that can be adapted to different venues and display sizes.

Portrait Orientation for Menu Board Layouts
The LCM3X1UP mounts three displays in portrait (vertical) orientation — the natural format for menu board content in quick-service restaurants, food halls, and retail price boards. Portrait placement maximises the usable vertical screen area for text-heavy menu content and naturally segments product categories across screens. In environments where standard landscape arrays would feel too wide or visually disconnected, a portrait 3×1 configuration provides a taller, more impactful content window per screen without requiring any ceiling-side modification. This makes the unit distinctly different from its landscape sibling (LCM3X1U) and the right choice when the content strategy is column-based menu layout rather than wide panoramic imagery.

Centris Tilt for Precise Sightline Control
Each display interface uses Chief's Centris tilt technology, allowing per-screen tilt adjustment from +5° upward to -20° downward. In a ceiling-hung context — where displays are always elevated above eye level — the ability to angle screens toward the viewer is critical for readability and anti-glare performance. Customers standing at a counter or ordering kiosk benefit from screens that face them directly rather than presenting a ceiling-angle view. The adjustment range is wide enough to accommodate low ceilings with displays close to head height as well as high-ceiling installations such as atriums or large food courts. This built-in flexibility eliminates the need for custom tilt adapters in most venues.

Modular Design — Extend the Menu Board Run
Multiple LCM3X1UP units link together to create longer ceiling menu board arrays, making this system genuinely scalable. A two-unit installation covers six portrait screens; three units cover nine — all sharing the same structural ceiling interface. This is architecturally important for larger venues such as airport terminals, stadium concourses, and multi-bay fast-food restaurants, where the digital menu board must span a wide service counter. Because each unit is independent, a multi-unit run can be installed in stages as a venue expands, and individual sections can be serviced or reconfigured without dismounting the entire array.

ControlZone Micro-Height Levelling
A 5,08 cm micro-adjustment range at every structural column intersection point lets installers fine-tune the height of each array section independently after the ceiling plates and columns are fixed. In real-world installations, ceiling structures are rarely perfectly level, and this feature compensates for minor slab variations without re-drilling or shimming. The result is a visually flat, horizontally consistent display array even in challenging architectural environments. For integrators working in leased commercial spaces where ceiling modifications must be kept to a minimum, this on-the-mount adjustment significantly reduces the risk of a costly re-hang.

Dual Ceiling System Compatibility
The LCM3X1UP works with both the traditional 1.5" NPT threaded ceiling plate and column system and the newer CPA pinned connection system — two ceiling infrastructure standards that Chief has deployed across thousands of installations worldwide. This dual compatibility means the mount can be specified confidently for legacy buildings with existing NPT columns already in the ceiling as well as new-build projects using the CPA quick-connect system. It also simplifies spares logistics for AV service companies managing multi-site rollouts across venues with mixed infrastructure. Ceiling plates and columns are required but sold separately, giving integrators full flexibility to match the column length to the drop height of each specific venue.

Tool-Free Screen Engagement and Optional Security
Displays attach and detach without tools using Chief's tool-free engagement interface, which materially reduces installation time when working at height — every minute saved on a scaffold or lift lowers labour cost and improves site safety. For public-facing installations such as airport retail or quick-service restaurants, optional padlock security (sold separately) prevents unauthorised removal or tampering with the displays after installation. This combination — fast install, secure operation — makes the LCM3X1UP practical in both controlled back-office deployments and high-traffic public venues.
