Premium 8-inch in-ceiling stereo and surround speaker
Origin Acoustics BOC82DT/SUR
The Origin Acoustics Celestial BOC82DT/SUR is a premium two-way in-ceiling loudspeaker co-designed with Bang & Olufsen, combining high-performance acoustic engineering with understated luxury aesthetics. Aimed at integrators installing whole-home audio, home cinema surround systems, or high-end distributed audio, it delivers room-filling stereo sound from a single ceiling location — or seamlessly integrates as a surround channel in a multi-room setup. The distinctive aluminium-lined Bang & Olufsen grille keeps the speaker virtually invisible in the ceiling, while the bayonet-ring mounting system allows quick, clean installation without additional tools. Rated at 50 W RMS and 150 W peak, it handles demanding listening environments with ease.

Dual-Mode Stereo and Surround in One Unit
The BOC82DT/SUR carries two independent 1" Tonearm silk tweeters, each driven by its own channel. A switch on the rear of the speaker selects between stereo mode — where each tweeter reproduces a separate left and right channel — and surround mode, where a single channel drives both tweeters together. This means an integrator can specify one SKU across both stereo music zones and cinema surround positions, simplifying procurement, reducing stock complexity, and giving flexibility on site if the room's use changes after installation. For the end user, the result is true two-channel playback from a single ceiling cut-out: genuine stereo imaging overhead rather than a mono blend.

Pivoting Tweeters for Precise Sound Direction
Both 1" DPSD (Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm) tweeters pivot independently on their Tonearm mounts, letting the installer direct high-frequency energy precisely at the primary listening position — a sofa, dining table, or kitchen island — after the speaker is already mounted in the ceiling. For surround or ambient channels, the tweeters can instead be aimed towards a side wall to create a broader, more enveloping sound field. This adjustability avoids the need to re-position the speaker itself and gives fine control over the acoustic balance of each room without any acoustic panelling or DSP correction.

Tool-Less Bayonet Ring Mounting
Installation uses Origin Acoustics' bayonet ring system: the ring is inserted into the ceiling cut-out first, a metal lock tab secures it in place, and the speaker then clicks in and locks with no additional tools required after the wiring step. The bayonet ring also accepts an optional back box for improved bass response and acoustic isolation between rooms. For integrators, this translates to faster rough-in and finish work, and the lock tab prevents accidental dislodgement during trim-out or cleaning. The included paper template ensures a clean, accurately sized cut-out first time.

Co-Designed Bang & Olufsen Aluminium Grille
The Celestial Collection is the result of a formal design collaboration between Origin Acoustics and Bang & Olufsen. The aluminium-lined grille carries B&O's signature aesthetic of understated luxury — visually flush and minimal — making it one of the few in-ceiling speakers genuinely acceptable in high-specification interior design projects where standard white plastic grilles would be refused. For integrators working in premium residential builds or retrofit luxury apartments, this significantly expands the rooms where a flush ceiling speaker can be proposed rather than a more disruptive or visible surface-mount alternative.

8-inch IMG Woofer for Extended Low-Frequency Reach
The woofer uses an Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) cone — a material chosen for its combination of rigidity and low mass, which reduces coloration and distortion at higher excursion levels. At 8" (203 mm) diameter, it reaches down to 38 Hz, covering the upper bass range convincingly without a dedicated subwoofer in smaller rooms. Rated at 50 W RMS and 150 W peak with a 6-ohm minimum impedance, it is compatible with the majority of multi-zone amplifiers and AV receivers. The extended low-frequency response makes it equally well suited to music-primary zones and to cinema surround positions where LFE content blends with main channels.
