Celestial 8-inch two-way in-ceiling speaker
Origin Acoustics BOC82
The Origin Acoustics BOC82 is part of the Celestial Collection — a premium in-ceiling speaker range co-engineered with Bang & Olufsen, combining audiophile sound performance with the Danish brand's philosophy of understated luxury. Designed for residential whole-home audio, home cinema, and high-end custom AV installations, the BOC82 delivers broad, room-filling sound from an 8-inch Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) woofer paired with a pivoting 1-inch Tonearm Silk tweeter. The speaker installs cleanly into standard drywall ceilings without tools and disappears behind a polished aluminium grille that blends naturally into any décor. It is the entry-level two-way model in the BOC80 Series, making it the go-to choice where single-channel stereo performance and shallow ceiling depth are priorities.

Pivoting Tonearm Tweeter for Precise Aiming
The BOC82's patented Tonearm Silk tweeter is mounted on a pivoting arm that allows it to be angled independently of the speaker's ceiling position. In practice, this means the tweeter can be directed toward the primary listening area — a sofa, a dining table, a bath — regardless of where structural constraints force the speaker to be cut in. For rooms where ceiling joists or beams push the speaker off-centre, this removes a common compromise in hi-fi ceiling installations: the listener hears a focused, well-imaged soundstage rather than a diffuse overhead source. The DPSD (Dual Post Stabilised Design) construction pins the tweeter at the centre of the arm for increased stability, allowing higher output levels before distortion, which is audible as cleaner high-frequency detail at normal listening volumes.

Zip-Cliq Tool-Less Installation
The Zip-Cliq mounting system is Origin Acoustics' proprietary bayonet-and-clamp mechanism that locks the BOC82 into place in drywall ceilings without drills, screwdrivers, or specialist tools beyond what is needed to cut the 8.75-inch aperture. The ring is inserted into the cutout and the speaker body clicks and locks in one motion, with spring-loaded grips securing it against the back of the drywall. This cuts installation time significantly on multi-room projects — a meaningful saving when an integrator is fitting ten or twenty speakers across a large home. The shallow 4.13-inch mounting depth makes the speaker compatible with standard timber-stud construction and most concrete-floor apartment ceilings where ceiling void depth is limited.

X-Wave Woofer Surround for Lower Distortion
The X-Wave surround is a purpose-engineered suspension element that wraps the edge of the 8-inch IMG woofer cone. Its geometry is designed to absorb standing waves — the unwanted frequencies that would otherwise reflect up and down the cone face, exciting harmonic distortion and smearing transient detail. The result is a woofer that tracks the amplifier's signal more faithfully across its operating range (38 Hz to 20 kHz), keeping bass tight and midrange clean even at higher drive levels. Paired with the Injection Molded Graphite cone material — which is rigid enough to resist flex yet light enough to respond quickly — this gives the BOC82 a low-coloration character that is rare at its ceiling-speaker price point.

Bang & Olufsen Design Aesthetic
The BOC82 ships with a polished aluminium grille that carries both the Origin Acoustics and Bang & Olufsen logos. The grille profile is flat, low-profile, and deliberately inconspicuous — consistent with Bang & Olufsen's long-standing design language of hardware that recedes into the architecture rather than competing with it. For integrators specifying audio into architect-led or interior-designer-led projects, this is a meaningful differentiator: the visible hardware is a premium object in its own right, not just a functional cover. The grille is magnetically retained for tool-less removal and reinstallation when repainting ceilings.
