INOGENI HD2USB3

The INOGENI HD2USB3 is a professional HDMI to USB 3.0 video converter designed for AV integrators deploying camera capture in meeting rooms, classrooms, broadcast studios, and streaming workflows. It takes any HDMI camera or laptop output and presents it to the host computer as a standard UVC USB camera — making it instantly available in Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, OBS Studio, and any other DirectShow-, AVFoundation-, or V4L2-compatible application without installing drivers. The device is bus-powered over the included USB 3.0 cable, keeps the installation clean with no external PSU, and is built in an aluminium enclosure engineered and manufactured in Canada. True Plug-and-Play UVC Operation

The HD2USB3 presents itself to any host as a standard USB Video Class (UVC) device. The operating system — whether Windows 7+, macOS 10.10+, Linux (kernel 2.6.38+), or Android — loads the built-in UVC driver automatically, so there is nothing to install on the end-user machine. Every UC platform that can select a USB camera (Teams, Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, BlueJeans, etc.) will see the HDMI source immediately. In practice this means an integrator can deploy the unit without touching software policies on managed corporate endpoints, and a remote user calling in a huddle room can walk up and start a video call without any setup steps.

Hardware-Based Signal Processing

All scaling, color space conversion, sampling conversion, and frame rate conversion are handled entirely in hardware — not in software on the host CPU. The proprietary Digital Fluid technology uses internal frame buffers to maximize delivered frame rate regardless of host CPU load or USB controller chipset (Intel, Renesas, ASMedia, and Fresco Logic are all confirmed compatible). The practical result is a highly stable, consistently timed video signal with no dropped-frame artifacts during heavy conferencing or recording sessions — even on machines running alongside demanding workloads. Field-Upgradable to 4K

The HD2USB3 ships as a 1080p60 device but its firmware architecture supports 4K capture. The upgrade is purchased online directly from INOGENI (USD $95 at time of publication) and applied via their software tool — no hardware swap, no re-cabling, no service call. For an integrator this is a meaningful sales argument: a customer who budgets for 1080p today can move to 4K at a fraction of replacement cost when their meeting room is refreshed. It also extends the useful life of the deployed unit, reducing total cost of ownership across a fleet of rooms.
