The Origin Acoustics Director D69 is a high-performance 6-inch series in-ceiling loudspeaker from the Director Collection, designed for custom residential AV installations where sonic quality and discreet aesthetics are equally important. Aimed at integrators specifying whole-home audio, home theatre, and multi-room music systems, the D69 combines a 6.5-inch Kevlar woofer with the brand's patented Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DPSD) silk tweeter. Patented DPSD Tweeter Technology

The Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DPSD) is an Origin Acoustics patent that sets this tweeter apart from standard silk domes. Rather than suspending the diaphragm only at its outer edge, the DPSD attaches the suspension at both the voice-coil and the peak of the dome. This dual-point anchoring prevents the diaphragm from distorting under excursion, allowing the driver to cross over at a significantly lower frequency than a conventional tweeter — expanding the driver's bandwidth and improving dispersion across a wider area. Fully Pivoting Two-Way Design for Off-Axis Installations

Unlike most in-ceiling speakers where the drivers fire straight down, the D69 allows the entire woofer — and the tweeter independently — to pivot within the enclosure. This is especially valuable in rooms where structural constraints prevent centering a speaker directly above the listening position, or in home theatre setups where overhead Dolby Atmos channels need to be steered toward specific seats. Tool-Less Zip-Klip Mounting System

The patented Zip-Klip mounting system (Patent #9591390) replaces the traditional dog-leg clamps used on most in-ceiling speakers. Spring-loaded clips engage automatically as the speaker is seated into the bayonet ring, distributing clamping force across multiple contact points rather than a single clamp. Paintable Magnetic Micro-Bezel Grille
