The Chief PG4A Extra-Large Venue Projector Guard is a heavy-duty, locking steel security cage designed for large-format projectors installed in auditoriums, lecture halls, houses of worship, and other large venues. It fully encloses the projector and its mount to deter theft and recreational damage without requiring any disturbance to existing projector calibration or alignment. With telescoping front and back panels, the PG4A accommodates a wide range of projector sizes and depths, making it an ideal retrofit solution for both new installations and existing deployments. Compatible with all Chief ceiling projector mounts and backed by a 10-year limited warranty.
Retrofit-Friendly Security Upgrade
The PG4A is engineered to be added to pre-existing Chief projector mount installations without touching the projector itself — meaning alignment, keystone correction, and lens settings remain exactly as calibrated. This is a critical advantage in venues such as lecture theatres and houses of worship where re-calibration after a security upgrade would require scheduling a technician visit and potentially disrupting programming. Maintenance teams can install the cage around an already-commissioned projector, eliminating downtime and rework. The removable doors further support this: lamp and filter changes can be carried out without removing the entire cage.
Broad Depth Compatibility via Telescoping Panels
With telescoping front and back panels, the PG4A spans projector depths from 55.9 to 68.6 cm (22–27 inches). This range covers the majority of large-venue projectors from leading manufacturers, making the PG4A suitable as a single SKU across diverse install bases rather than requiring a model-specific cage. The adjustable front opening additionally accommodates different lens barrel positions and side-throw offsets, so the cage does not force lens placement compromises. Purpose-Built for Large-Venue Mounts
The PG4A is specifically designed for use with Chief's VCMU, RPAU, and RPMAU ceiling projector mounts — the platform mounts typically specified for heavy large-venue projectors. It attaches to a 1.5-inch NPT diameter extension column, which is the standard used throughout Chief's large-venue ceiling mount ecosystem. This native integration means no adapters or workarounds are required, and load paths are properly engineered through the mount structure rather than relying on the cage itself for structural support. The all-steel construction with a powder-coat finish adds robustness appropriate for high-traffic public spaces.
