The Chief PG4AW is an extra-large projector security guard designed for large venue installations where projector protection is critical — such as auditoriums, houses of worship, schools, and public conference spaces. The fully enclosing white steel cage deters theft and shields the projector from accidental or deliberate damage, while telescoping panels and a removable door system allow technicians easy access for maintenance. It is engineered to work with Chief's VCMU, RPAU, and RPMAU ceiling mounts, and can be retrofitted onto existing installations without disturbing the projector's alignment or settings. Robust Theft and Damage Deterrence
The PG4AW fully encloses the projector in a welded, locking steel cage — not just a cage around the mount, but a complete enclosure covering the projector body itself. In shared or public venues such as auditoriums, classrooms, and houses of worship, exposed projectors are vulnerable to tampering, theft, and impact from sporting or theatrical activities. The locked enclosure makes opportunistic theft and casual interference significantly harder, while the steel construction resists impact. For venues where equipment replacement budgets are tight and projectors carry a high capital value, this level of passive protection translates directly to lower risk and reduced insurance exposure.
Retrofit Installation Without Re-alignment
One of the most practical aspects of the PG4AW is that it can be added to a pre-existing Chief projector mount installation without moving or re-aiming the projector. Re-alignment of a large venue projector is time-consuming and often requires a specialist visit, so the ability to bolt on the guard after the projector is already calibrated eliminates a significant labour cost. The front and back panels of the PG4AW telescope to accommodate projector depths from 55,9 to 68,6 cm (22 to 27 inches). Combined with an adjustable front opening that accounts for different lens configurations and throw positions, the cage fits a wide range of large-format projectors without requiring custom adaptations.
