High-brightness IP-rated outdoor digital signage display
LG 49XE4P-M
The LG 49XE4P-M is a 49-inch Full HD outdoor digital signage display engineered for demanding, year-round outdoor deployment. Delivering 4,000 nits of brightness with an IPS M+ panel, it keeps content vivid and readable even under direct sunlight — making it ideal for drive-thrus, transportation hubs, amusement parks, stadiums, and retail forecourts. Protected by IP56 sealing and IK10-rated tempered laminated glass, it withstands dust, water jets, and physical impact. Built-in LG webOS 6.1 with a capable SoC enables standalone content playback without an external media player, while integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and HDBaseT connectivity simplify installation and management. World's first UL-Verified Anti-Discoloration technology guards against screen yellowing for long-term visual quality.

4,000-Nit Sunlight-Readable IPS Panel
The 49XE4P-M uses a Direct-lit IPS M+ panel calibrated to 4,000 nits typical brightness — roughly eight times a typical indoor commercial display. At this level, content remains sharp, high-contrast, and fully legible even when the sun shines directly onto the screen surface. The wide 178°×178° viewing angle ensures that audiences approaching from the side — as at a drive-thru lane or transit platform — see the same image quality as those standing front-on. M+ Color Settings further punch up colour saturation to compensate for the washing effect of ambient daylight, so menu images, promotions, and wayfinding graphics register with visual impact rather than blending into the background.

IP56 Sealing and IK10 Protective Glass
IP56 certification means the display is fully protected against dust ingress and powerful water jets from any direction — covering rain storms, pressure washing of surrounding surfaces, and seasonal flooding. IK10-rated protective glass, both tempered and laminated, is the highest standard on the vandal-resistance scale, able to absorb the energy of a 20-joule impact without shattering. In a retail or public environment this dramatically reduces the risk of costly LCD module replacements after accidental or deliberate strikes. The combination of IP and IK ratings means the 49XE4P-M can be installed in exposed locations — street-level, stadium concourses, amusement park queues — with confidence that routine weathering and incidental contact will not interrupt operation.

UL-Verified Anti-Discoloration Technology
Screen yellowing and black-circle formation are the most common long-term failure modes for outdoor LCD displays — caused by prolonged UV exposure and heat cycling that degrade the optical bonding and backlight materials. LG developed proprietary Anti-Discoloration technology to combat both phenomena simultaneously, using an enhanced thermal management system to keep internal temperatures stable. Crucially, LG has obtained UL third-party verification for these anti-discoloration characteristics — the first display manufacturer in the world to do so. For operators, this independently certified guarantee is a practical procurement argument: it reduces the lifecycle cost of outdoor signage by extending the period before image quality degrades to the point of replacement.

Wide Operating Temperature: -30°C to 50°C
The 49XE4P-M is validated for continuous operation across a temperature range of -30°C to +50°C (without direct sunlight; up to +40°C under direct solar load). This covers the extremes of northern European winters and the radiant heat of south-facing, sun-exposed walls in summer. Conformal coating applied to both the circuit board and power board provides an additional moisture and contamination barrier, protecting internal electronics from humidity, condensation, iron-powder deposits, and airborne contaminants typical in coastal, industrial, or high-traffic urban sites. Together these measures support long-term service continuity without supplemental heating or cooling enclosures.

Built-in webOS 6.1 with Failover Playback
The 49XE4P-M runs LG webOS 6.1 on an integrated SoC, meaning it functions as a self-contained signage player with no external box required. The platform supports local content scheduling, USB Plug & Play, PIP and 2PBP picture-in-picture layouts, Tile Mode for multi-screen arrays, gapless playback, and Screen Rotation for portrait orientation use. A critical operational feature is automatic failover: if the primary input signal or connected player disconnects, the display detects the interruption and seamlessly continues playing the last active content from internal storage — preventing a blank screen in customer-facing environments. Compatibility with LG SuperSign CMS and SuperSign Cloud means the display integrates directly into managed signage networks of any scale.

Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and HDBaseT Connectivity
Wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) is built in, allowing content distribution, device monitoring, and configuration without running additional data cables to the display — a meaningful installation saving on facades, rooftops, and locations where conduit routing is expensive or architecturally restricted. The Bluetooth beacon function can additionally push real-time, location-aware information to nearby mobile devices, adding an engagement layer beyond the screen itself. For longer cable runs or aggregated AV-over-IP deployments, the second RJ45 port carries HDBaseT, enabling uncompressed HD video, RS-232, and power delivery over a single CAT cable up to 100m. Two HDMI 2.2 inputs and a DisplayPort round out the source options.

Intelligent Sensors and Vandalism Alert
The XE4P-M integrates a suite of onboard sensors: ambient light (auto-brightness), temperature, humidity, pixel, BLU (backlight), current, and acceleration/gyro. The auto-brightness function adjusts output between preset minimum and maximum levels depending on environmental light — keeping content readable without running at full power unnecessarily, which reduces electricity consumption and extends backlight lifetime. The gyro-based Vandalism Alert system monitors physical shock and tilt: if the display is struck hard enough or tilted beyond its expected angle, an instant alert is sent to the administrator, enabling rapid response before damage escalates. For unattended installations in public spaces, this provides a proactive security layer that passive displays cannot offer.

Legacy Casing Compatibility for Easy Upgrades
The 49XE4P-M is dimensionally engineered to fit into existing outdoor enclosures designed for the predecessor XE4F series. This means operators with a deployed fleet of older LG outdoor displays can upgrade the display module itself — gaining the new 4,000-nit panel, webOS 6.1, Anti-Discoloration technology, and IP56 sealing — without replacing the surrounding weatherproof housing. The saving in enclosure hardware costs and installation labour can be decisive in large multi-site rollouts. A built-in self-levelling tool further reduces installation effort by giving installers an on-device horizontal and vertical reference during mounting, minimising adjustment time on ladders or elevated platforms.
