Marquee in-ceiling height and surround channel speaker

Origin Acoustics M2500IC

The Origin Acoustics M2500IC is the in-ceiling height and surround speaker of the Marquee Collection — a no-compromise home cinema system designed for integrators who demand both sonic accuracy and clean architectural integration. Built around a 10" coated-paper woofer, a 3.5" coated-paper midrange, and a 3/4" titanium Multi-Motion Pivoting tweeter, it delivers a full 70 Hz–20 kHz response from a flush ceiling mount. Whether deployed as a Dolby Atmos height channel in a 7.2.4 system or as a conventional surround speaker, the M2500IC disappears into the ceiling while producing the kind of immersive overhead soundstage that makes extreme home theater installations genuinely extraordinary. Sold individually, it pairs seamlessly with the rest of the Marquee Collection and is compatible with any premium AV receiver or amplifier.

Dolby Atmos Height Channel Ready

Dolby Atmos Height Channel Ready

The M2500IC is specifically engineered as a Dolby Atmos height and surround channel speaker, which directly determines its role in a system layout. In an Atmos configuration (e.g. 7.2.4), height channel speakers must fire downward from the ceiling at roughly 45° offset from the listening position — both front and rear pairs. The M2500IC's three-way design with a large 10" woofer gives it the full-range capability needed for a height speaker that handles not just effects but also music and dialogue when assigned as a surround. This makes it one of the largest, most capable architectural in-ceiling speakers in its intended role, producing genuine overhead immersion rather than the thin, effects-only overhead sound common from smaller two-way ceiling units. For extreme home theater installations, this means the height layer of the sound field matches the front and surround channels in weight and clarity.

Multi-Motion Pivoting Titanium Tweeter

Multi-Motion Pivoting Titanium Tweeter

The 3/4" titanium tweeter uses Origin Acoustics' proprietary Multi-Motion Pivot (MMP) technology, allowing it to be manually aimed toward the primary listening area after installation without removing the speaker from the ceiling. This is a decisive advantage in rooms where the listening position is offset from the ceiling cut-out — a common situation in home theaters with raked seating or non-symmetrical layouts. Titanium dome tweeters are preferred in high-output theater systems for their stiffness-to-weight ratio, which reduces breakup distortion at high levels and maintains clean transient response on percussive soundtracks. Being able to redirect high-frequency energy precisely at the listener rather than radiating it straight down at the floor means the system integrator can optimize the Atmos overhead image even when ceiling placement is constrained by structural elements. The result is sharper localization of overhead sound effects and a more convincing three-dimensional soundstage.

Three drivers. One ceiling cut-out. Full Atmos overhead sound.

Coated-Paper Drivers for High-Fidelity Accuracy

Coated-Paper Drivers for High-Fidelity Accuracy

Both the 10" woofer and the 3.5" midrange use proprietary resin-coated paper cones — a deliberate design choice that places the M2500IC in the tradition of the most respected high-fidelity loudspeaker designs. Coated paper offers a well-balanced combination of internal damping (to suppress cone resonances), stiffness (for accurate pistonic behavior), and low mass (for fast transient response). In a dedicated home theater context, this translates to midrange reproduction that preserves the timbre of voices and acoustic instruments, making dialogue feel anchored and natural rather than coloured by the driver material. The 10" woofer reaches down to 70 Hz with genuine authority, reducing the subwoofer's workload in the bass management crossover and providing a richer, more enveloping low-mid foundation to the overhead soundstage than smaller ceiling speakers can achieve.

Tool-Less Bayonet Mounting System

Tool-Less Bayonet Mounting System

The M2500IC uses Origin Acoustics' tool-less bayonet ring installation system, which significantly reduces installation time and ceiling damage risk compared to traditional dog-ear clip or screw-flange in-ceiling mounts. The bayonet ring is inserted into the cut-out, its internal clips are pushed down to grip the ceiling material, and the speaker body then twists clockwise to lock into the ring — no screwdriver, no reaching behind the baffle. Alignment is confirmed visually when guide marks line up. Removal and reinstallation for service or repositioning is equally straightforward: push the internal release tabs to drop the clips, untwist the speaker, and the bayonet ring comes out cleanly. For an integrator running a multi-speaker Atmos ceiling layout, the cumulative time saving across six or eight units is substantial, and the risk of cracked drywall from overtightened dog-ear clips is eliminated. The included cut-out template ensures consistent hole sizing across all speakers.

Paintable Grille for True Architectural Integration

Paintable Grille for True Architectural Integration

The M2500IC ships with a cloth-faced grille that can be spray-painted to match any ceiling colour or finish, effectively making the speaker invisible once installed. The cloth is removable before painting and reattachable afterwards, and the grille face itself is open enough that careful spray application (recommended from a distance with diluted paint) does not compromise acoustic transparency. This matters in high-end residential installations where the home theater is also a living space — or where a client's interior designer has influence over what appears on the ceiling. An Atmos layout requires four to eight ceiling openings; unmatched white grilles on a cream or grey ceiling stand out visibly. A properly colour-matched M2500IC grille disappears entirely, which is the correct result for a no-compromise installation at this price point.
