The Chief CMS012018W is a Speed-Connect adjustable extension column designed to precisely position projectors and flat-panel displays at the correct drop height below a ceiling mount. Adjustable between 30,5 and 45,7 cm in 2,54 cm increments, it suits a wide range of room geometries without requiring custom fabrication. Finished in white for unobtrusive ceiling integration, the column is built for professional AV environments including corporate meeting rooms, classrooms, and houses of worship. Its aluminium construction keeps weight low while maintaining a load capacity of 226,8 kg, and its compatibility with all standard Chief 1.5" NPT ceiling plates and accessories makes it a universal component across the Chief ecosystem.
Tool-Free Height Adjustment
The CMS012018W uses Chief's notched Speed-Connect design to allow height changes in 2,54 cm steps across a 30,5–45,7 cm range without disassembling the column from the ceiling or the mount head. In practice this means an installer can set the projector height, test the throw distance and image placement, and make corrections on the spot without pulling the unit down — a significant time saver in rooms where ceiling access is awkward or requires a scissor lift. Once the right position is found, the included set screw locks the column firmly and also helps dampen minor building vibrations that can cause image wobble on sensitive installations.
Universal 1.5" NPT Interface
Both ends of the column carry standard 1.5" NPT threads, the de-facto industry thread standard for projector columns. This means the CMS012018W connects directly to any Chief ceiling plate (suspended, concrete, or tile) on one end and to any Chief 1.5" NPT projector mount head on the other — without adapters. The practical consequence is that this single column SKU works across the entire Chief projector mount ecosystem, and it can also extend or replace columns in existing Chief installations without retooling. For mixed-brand AV environments, the NPT standard is also compatible with many third-party 1.5" NPT accessories.
Integrated Cable Management
An integrated cable port on one end of the column allows HDMI, VGA, power, or control cables to be routed internally through the column body rather than taped alongside it. In a finished meeting room or classroom ceiling this makes a meaningful visible difference: the installation looks designed rather than patched together. It also protects cables from incidental contact and simplifies future cable replacement, since cables feed through a dedicated channel rather than being zip-tied to the exterior.
TAA Compliant for Government & Education Projects
The CMS012018W carries TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliance, which is a procurement requirement for US federal government contracts and for many state, local, and education (SLED) buyers.
