Chief CMS0203W, 60.9-91.4 cm, Adjustable — Adjustable ceiling extension column for AV mounts
The Chief CMS0203W is an adjustable extension column designed to set the correct drop height for ceiling-mounted projectors and flat panel displays. Part of Chief's Speed-Connect CMS Adjustable Extension Series, it is compatible with any 1.5" NPT ceiling plate or mount accessory, making it a versatile solution for conference rooms, classrooms, and other commercial AV environments. The column's continuously notched design allows height to be set between 60,9 and 91,4 cm in 2,54 cm increments — without disassembly — significantly reducing on-site installation and adjustment time. Built from high-quality aluminum, it supports loads up to 226,8 kg and ships in white to suit discreet ceiling installations.

Tool-Free Height Adjustment in the Field
The CMS0203W uses Chief's notched column design, which lets an installer set the exact drop height anywhere between 60,9 and 91,4 cm by simply sliding the inner tube to the desired notch and locking it with the set screw — no pipe cutters, no disassembly, no revisit needed. In a typical commercial install, ceiling heights vary room to room and often differ from the specification drawings. Being able to dial in the final height after the projector or display is already connected saves significant time on-site and eliminates the need to stock multiple fixed-length pipes for a single project.

Universal 1.5" NPT Compatibility
Both ends of the column are machined with standard 1.5" NPT (National Pipe Thread) threads, which is the dominant thread standard across Chief's projector mount ecosystem and a widely adopted AV industry standard. This means the CMS0203W threads directly into any Chief ceiling plate, spider mount, or projector mount with NPT fittings — and equally into third-party accessories that use the same standard. For integrators, this avoids the need for adapters and ensures the column can be reused across different mount configurations, reducing excess inventory.

Integrated Cable Management
The column is hollow with a dedicated cable routing port at one end, allowing signal and power cables to pass through the interior of the column rather than running externally along the pole. In ceiling installations where the projection system must look professional and uncluttered — such as in corporate boardrooms, lecture theatres, or houses of worship — this built-in conduit function eliminates visible cable runs between the ceiling and the projector, producing a cleaner result without requiring additional cable covers or conduit.

226,8 kg Load Capacity with Vibration Damping
The aluminum construction and the included set screw give the CMS0203W a maximum load rating of 226,8 kg — well above what any single commercial projector or flat panel display will weigh. More practically, the set screw functions as a vibration damper, tightening the column assembly so that building HVAC systems, foot traffic, or mechanical vibration from the projector itself do not cause noticeable wobble in the hanging display. This matters in venues such as classrooms or conference rooms where even slight movement degrades image quality during presentations.

TAA Compliant — Eligible for Government Projects
The CMS0203W meets the requirements of the U.S. Trade Agreements Act (TAA), which is a mandatory procurement criterion for many federal, state, and local government AV projects in the United States. TAA compliance is also increasingly required in government-adjacent environments such as public schools, healthcare facilities, and defence contractors. For integrators bidding on public-sector work, specifying TAA-compliant hardware throughout the install — including ancillary items like extension columns — prevents compliance failures that could delay project acceptance or payment.
