The Chief CMS006009 is a Speed-Connect adjustable extension column designed to set the precise drop height of ceiling-mounted projectors or flat panel displays. Threaded on both ends with a standard 1.5" NPT connection, it is compatible with the full range of Chief ceiling plates, mounts, and accessories. The column adjusts between 15,2 and 22,9 cm in 2,54 cm increments using a patented notched design — no tools or disassembly required — making it ideal for retrofit installations or situations where the exact ceiling height is only known on-site. Lightweight aluminium construction simplifies handling during installation and reduces shipping costs. Tool-Free Length Adjustment in the Ceiling
The CMS006009 uses Chief's notched Speed-Connect design, which lets an installer change the column length in 2,54 cm increments without removing the mount from the ceiling or loosening threaded connections. In practice this means that if a projector ends up too high or too low after initial hanging — a very common site condition — the installer simply slides the column to the next notch and locks it with the set screw, rather than ordering a different fixed-length pipe and revisiting the site. This dramatically shortens commissioning time and virtually eliminates the labour cost of a second visit. A set screw provides positive locking once the final position is confirmed, so the finished installation is as rigid as a fixed column.
Integrated Cable Management Port
One end of the column includes a dedicated cable routing port that allows signal and power cables to pass through the interior of the pipe rather than being surface-routed on the outside. This keeps the ceiling installation looking clean and professional — an important detail in boardrooms, classrooms, and houses of worship where exposed cabling is unacceptable. The through-pipe routing also protects cables from accidental snagging during ceiling tile access and makes future cable replacement straightforward without having to strip away external cable ties or conduit.

This means the column can be freely mixed with any compatible Chief component regardless of generation, and is also interoperable with third-party accessories that follow the same NPT standard.
