8-inch outdoor surface mount speaker, black
Origin Acoustics OS80B
The Origin Acoustics OS80B is a 2-way outdoor surface-mount loudspeaker from the Outdoor Collection, engineered for demanding exterior installations — patios, pool areas, commercial terraces, and hospitality outdoor spaces. Built around an 8-inch IMPP high-excursion woofer and a 1-inch aluminium tweeter, it delivers wide, even coverage at 70° both horizontally and vertically, with a rated maximum SPL of 108 dB. The IPX66-rated enclosure withstands heavy rain and weather exposure, while the adjustable C-bracket system allows full horizontal and vertical aiming at the listening zone. Available in black or white powder-coated finishes, the OS80B is designed for both aesthetic discretion and installation versatility.

IPX66 Weather Protection
The OS80B carries an IPX66 rating under IEC 60529, meaning the enclosure is certified against powerful water jets from any direction as well as complete dust ingress protection. This goes significantly further than the basic IPX4 splash resistance found on many competing outdoor speakers. In practice, this means the speaker can be permanently installed in fully exposed positions — under open eaves, beside pool areas, or in coastal gardens — without risk of water ingress degrading performance or shortening component life. End users get a system that simply keeps playing through heavy rain, cleaning with a garden hose, or harsh maritime conditions, without the ongoing concern of weather-related failure.

8" IMPP High-Excursion Woofer
The woofer uses an Injected Moulded Polypropylene (IMPP) cone — a material chosen for its combination of rigidity, light weight, and long-term resistance to UV degradation and humidity. The high-excursion design allows the cone to move further than conventional woofers, moving more air and reproducing deeper, louder bass without distortion at high drive levels. With a frequency response reaching down to 41 Hz (-10 dB), the OS80B covers most of the musical bass range that a listener standing outdoors would expect, reducing the need to add a separate outdoor subwoofer in typical residential or hospitality installations. The result is a full, satisfying sound at both low and high listening volumes.

Wide 70°x70° Coverage Angle
The OS80B's nominal dispersion of 70° horizontally and 70° vertically is notably wider than the 50° vertical angle typical of the smaller models in the same series. This wider vertical throw is particularly valuable in elevated wall or soffit-mount positions, where the speaker must project sound downward to a seated or standing audience several metres below. In a patio or terrace setting, it translates to consistent volume and tonal balance across the whole seating area without the need to add extra speakers to fill gaps. It also reduces the sensitivity to precise aiming — useful in installations where post-commission adjustment is impractical.

Fully Adjustable C-Bracket Aiming System
The included C-bracket provides independent horizontal rotation and vertical angle adjustment, both lockable via Torx security screws once the correct aim is set. Horizontal pivoting is achieved by rotating the speaker body between the two screw-cap ends of the bracket; vertical angle is set by selecting the appropriate adjustment holes on the wall mount before securing the bracket. This two-axis aiming system means the installer can position the speaker to suit the architecture — whether it is mounted on a wall, soffit, or pole — and then aim it precisely toward the listening zone after all wiring is complete. The bracket also supports both wall-and-ceiling and pole mounting, giving a single hardware kit flexibility across a wide range of site types.

2-Pin Phoenix Connector Wiring System
Rather than exposed binding posts or bare-wire terminals, the OS80B uses a 2-pin Phoenix (pluggable terminal block) connector recessed behind a lockable access door on the front baffle. Phoenix connectors accept stripped wire ends clamped by a small flat-head screw, creating a mechanically secure, corrosion-resistant termination point that will not loosen over years of vibration or thermal cycling. For the installer, this means a cleaner, more professional finish than open terminals, and for the end user it means a long-term reliable connection that does not need periodic re-tightening. The included Phoenix connectors are supplied with the speaker pair.
