Premium 8-inch outdoor surface mount speaker
Origin Acoustics OS80W
The Origin Acoustics OS80W is a flagship 8-inch 2-way surface mount speaker from the Outdoor Collection, designed for permanent outdoor installations in residential and light commercial settings. Available in white, it suits patios, poolside areas, covered terraces, outdoor entertainment zones, and architectural facades where premium sound and long-term weatherproofing are both required. With an 8" IMPP high-excursion woofer, a 1" aluminum tweeter, and 120 watts of program power handling, it delivers full, room-filling sound at genuinely high output levels. The fully adjustable C-bracket system allows precise aiming both vertically and horizontally, so sound can be directed exactly where listeners are — without compromise on placement.

IPX66 Weather Protection Built In
The OS80W carries an IEC 60529 IPX66 rating, meaning the enclosure withstands powerful water jets from any direction — not just splashing rain. This is a significant step above the basic 'weather resistant' claim common to many outdoor speakers. For installations exposed to sprinkler overspray, pressure-washing nearby, coastal humidity, or seasonal storms, this level of ingress protection means the speaker continues performing year after year without corrosion or water-related failure. The powder-coated aluminium grille and purpose-built enclosure are both part of this protection system, so the entire assembly — not just the driver — is designed to survive the outdoor environment.

8-Inch IMPP High-Excursion Woofer
The OS80W is built around an 8-inch Injected Molded Polypropylene (IMPP) woofer capable of high excursion — the cone moves further than a standard driver, which translates directly into deeper, more impactful bass outdoors. Outdoor environments are acoustically challenging: sound disperses quickly in open air with no wall or ceiling reinforcement. The large cone area and extended excursion compensate for this, delivering audible low-frequency content (-10dB at 41Hz) that smaller speakers simply cannot reproduce at equivalent distances. For patios or large entertainment areas, this means music retains body and warmth even at listening distances of 10+ metres.

Fully Adjustable C-Bracket Aiming System
The included C-bracket system provides independent vertical and horizontal angle adjustment — two axes of aiming that most fixed-bracket outdoor speakers lack. Vertical aim is set by selecting the attachment angle when connecting the C-bracket to the wall mount; horizontal rotation is adjusted by pivoting the speaker between the screw-cap ends of the bracket. This level of flexibility is practically important: speakers installed high on a wall or under an eave can be aimed down and across toward a seating area, dramatically improving intelligibility and perceived SPL without increasing volume. Installation teams can fine-tune coverage on-site to match the actual geometry of the space, reducing the need for extra speaker positions.

High Output: 87dB Sensitivity and 108dB Peak SPL
With 87dB sensitivity (1W-1m) and a rated maximum SPL of 108dB, the OS80W is capable of producing genuinely loud, distortion-free audio at realistic outdoor listening levels. This matters in environments with ambient noise — pool pumps, wind, traffic — where a speaker needs real headroom to remain clear. At 120W program power, a single speaker can cover a large terrace or garden zone without straining. For integrators sizing systems, the combination of high sensitivity and wide dispersion (70° x 70°) means fewer speakers are required to achieve even coverage, which simplifies wiring runs and reduces installation cost.

Secure 2-Pin Phoenix Connector Termination
Rather than a conventional spring-clip or bare-wire terminal, the OS80W uses a 2-pin Phoenix connector with a dedicated access door on the front baffle. The connector accepts stripped wire and is locked by a screw terminal, creating a mechanically secure and corrosion-resistant connection point. The access door protects the terminal from moisture ingress once closed. For installers, this means reliable, repeatable terminations that won't work loose over time through vibration or thermal cycling — a common failure point in conventional outdoor speaker wiring. The Phoenix connector format is familiar to professional AV installers and makes service visits straightforward.

Versatile Mounting: Wall, Ceiling or Pole
The bracket system supports three distinct mounting configurations: wall or ceiling surface mounting onto studs, joists or junction boxes; and pole mounting using U-bolt hardware. The supplied hardware includes stainless steel Torx security screws, wall anchors, and washers, covering most common surfaces including brick, concrete, and timber-frame construction. The mounting bracket includes rubber dimples to protect the wall surface and reduce vibration transfer. Sold and installed in pairs, each pair ships with two mounting bracket templates to simplify layout and drilling on-site. This flexibility makes the OS80W a single SKU that fits a wide range of outdoor architecture without needing additional mounting accessories for standard installations.
