Commercial 6.5" pendant loudspeaker for 70-100V systems

Origin Acoustics PP60

The Origin Acoustics PP60 is a 6.5" commercial pendant loudspeaker from the Professional Collection, designed for system integrators deploying distributed audio in commercial environments such as restaurants, retail spaces, hospitality venues, and corporate facilities. Operating on 70V or 100V constant-voltage systems, it brings audiophile-grade driver technology to professional installations, pairing a polypropylene woofer with a silk DSPD Multi-Motion Pivoting tweeter for accurate, wide-dispersion sound. Its compact cylindrical enclosure in matte black blends into modern interiors while delivering up to 108dB SPL — more than enough headroom for high-noise commercial environments. Available in black and white to suit different installation aesthetics.

Rear Passive Radiator Boosts Bass Output

Rear Passive Radiator Boosts Bass Output

The PP60 uses a 6.5" passive radiator mounted on the rear of the cylindrical enclosure — a tuned, acoustically loaded membrane that moves in response to internal cabinet pressure without requiring its own amplifier channel. The effect is that the effective acoustic cabinet volume is roughly doubled for low-frequency reproduction, pushing usable bass extension down to 50Hz (-10dB) from what would otherwise be a modest-sized enclosure. In practice, this means that a venue such as a restaurant or hotel lobby gets full-range, room-filling sound from a relatively discreet pendant — without needing a separate subwoofer zone in most standard commercial applications. Fewer devices, simpler system design, and lower overall project cost.

Front-Mounted 70V-100V Tap Switch with Premium Transformer

Front-Mounted 70V-100V Tap Switch with Premium Transformer

The PP60 runs natively on both 70V and 100V constant-voltage distribution systems, with a front-accessible tap switch offering four 70V taps (60W, 30W, 15W, 7.5W) and three 100V taps (60W, 30W, 15W). The transformer is described by Origin as 'nearly transparent' — engineered for minimal coloration so the speaker's full audio fidelity is preserved even on long distribution runs. Front-mounting makes tap changes straightforward during commissioning or after installation without disassembling the enclosure. This flexibility lets integrators fine-tune SPL balance across a zone, mix speaker counts freely on a single amplifier channel, and adapt the installation to European 100V infrastructure as easily as North American 70V systems.

Audiophile drivers. Pro-grade 70-100V transformer. One bold pendant.

DSPD Multi-Motion Pivoting Silk Tweeter

DSPD Multi-Motion Pivoting Silk Tweeter

The 1" silk tweeter uses Origin's patented Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DSPD) geometry combined with the Multi-Motion Pivoting (MMP) mechanism, which allows the tweeter to be physically aimed independently of the woofer. In a pendant speaker, this is especially valuable: the enclosure typically hangs vertically from the ceiling while the listening area may be offset from directly beneath it. Being able to pivot the tweeter toward the target zone maintains the full 120-degree conical coverage pattern on-axis to the audience, avoiding the high-frequency roll-off that fixed tweeters suffer when the listener is not perfectly centered below. The silk dome material also contributes to a smooth, non-fatiguing treble response suitable for background music in spaces with long dwell times.

Phoenix Connector for Fast, Clean Wiring

Phoenix Connector for Fast, Clean Wiring

The PP60 uses a Phoenix (euro-block) screw-terminal connector rather than bare wire terminations or spring clips. Phoenix connectors allow the speaker cable to be pre-terminated, tested, and then simply plugged in on site — particularly useful when installers are working at height or in tight ceiling plenums. The connector also makes future service straightforward: the speaker can be unplugged, lowered, serviced, and reinstalled without re-stripping or re-terminating the field cable. This is a meaningful time saver on larger commercial installations with dozens of pendant positions.

UL 1480A Certified with Gripple Suspension Included

UL 1480A Certified with Gripple Suspension Included

The PP60 carries UL 1480A certification — the standard for speakers for commercial and professional use — as well as CSA C22.2 No.205 for Canada, CE marking, and WEEE compliance. This certification covers use in non-emergency sound reinforcement, non-fire emergency voice-warning systems (crowd control in arenas, shopping malls, transport centers), and institutional audio applications. Crucially, the included Gripple suspension kit itself carries UL 2239 certification for safety hardware. This end-to-end certification means specifiers can confidently include the PP60 in projects requiring documented safety agency compliance, and installers can proceed without sourcing separate compliant suspension hardware.
