Commercial 2-way pendant loudspeaker, white
Origin Acoustics PP80W
The Origin Acoustics PP80W is the flagship pendant speaker of the Professional Collection, designed for integrators tackling commercial audio in large-volume spaces such as gymnasiums, restaurants, retail stores, hospitality venues, and corporate lobbies. Its cylindrical enclosure pairs an 8-inch polypropylene woofer with Origin's 1-inch Silk DSPD Multi-Motion Pivoting tweeter, enabling precise directional aiming without moving the enclosure. The PP80W is finished in white and ships ready for distributed-audio systems, supporting both 70V and 100V line-level operation as well as 8-ohm direct drive. UL 1480A and UL 2043 certified for installation in air-handling plenum spaces, making it suitable for projects where compliance with fire and safety codes is mandatory.

Rear Passive Radiator Doubles Perceived Cabinet Size
The PP80W uses an 8-inch rear-facing tuned passive radiator in addition to its active 8-inch woofer — a design choice that effectively doubles the acoustic cabinet volume for low-frequency reproduction without enlarging the physical enclosure. In practice this means the speaker reaches down to 42 Hz (–10 dB) from a sleek cylindrical pendant body that would ordinarily struggle to move sufficient air at those frequencies. For spaces like gyms, hotel lobbies, or restaurant dining rooms where music energy and speech intelligibility both matter, this translates to full-bodied, room-filling sound without the visual bulk of a large conventional cabinet. Installers get a modern, architecturally neutral enclosure; listeners get a low-end performance that punches well above the speaker's apparent size.

Multi-Motion Pivoting DSPD Tweeter for Precise Aim
Origin's patented 1-inch Silk DSPD (Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm) tweeter is mounted on a Multi-Motion Pivot that allows the high-frequency driver to be aimed independently in multiple axes — without physically rotating or relocating the pendant. This is a genuine differentiator in commercial pendant installations, where ceiling geometry, seating arrangements, and reflective surfaces (tile, glass, concrete) can cause uneven high-frequency coverage if the tweeter simply fires straight down. The pivoting mechanism lets the installer tune dispersion on-site after the cable is dressed, correcting for asymmetric room layouts or off-centre listening zones. The 110° conical coverage angle of the PP80W is already broad, but the pivot extends usable control further, reducing hot-spots and dead zones in the coverage pattern.
Big-room bass. Pinpoint highs. Ready to hang.

Flexible 70V-100V Transformer With 8-Ohm Bypass
The PP80W carries a front-mounted, high-quality transformer with eight selectable power taps: 60W, 30W, 15W, and 7.5W on 70V, and 60W, 30W, and 15W on 100V — plus a direct 8-ohm connection for low-impedance systems. This single speaker therefore fits virtually any commercial amplifier topology without additional passive components. The transformer is described by Origin as nearly transparent in sonic character, preserving full fidelity on distributed lines rather than introducing the coloration common with budget transformers. For integrators, this flexibility means the PP80W can be specified early in a project and adapted as the amplification choice evolves, reducing the risk of last-minute speaker substitutions. Connection is via a Phoenix (euro-block) connector, which locks securely and speeds termination compared to bare-wire spring terminals common on lower-tier pendants.

UL 1480A and UL 2043 Plenum Certification
The PP80W carries UL 1480A certification (Standard for Speakers for Commercial and Professional Use) and UL 2043 certification for installation in air-handling plenum spaces, along with CSA-C22.2 No.205 for Canadian projects. These certifications are a hard project requirement in many jurisdictions — without them, a speaker simply cannot be legally installed above a suspended ceiling in a commercial building. For integrators, specifying a UL 1480A-rated pendant avoids costly late-stage substitutions when the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) or fire marshal reviews the installation. The included Gripple suspension kit meets UL 2239, covering the suspension hardware as well. This combination of certifications makes the PP80W a compliant, inspection-ready solution from hardware to transducer.

Gripple Suspension and Phoenix Connector for Fast Installation
The PP80W ships with an industry-standard Gripple cable suspension system already included, along with a recessed suspension point on the enclosure. Gripple's tool-free locking mechanism allows height adjustment after initial hang, which is valuable when final ceiling tile heights are confirmed late in a construction project. The Phoenix connector (euro-block) provides a secure, vibration-resistant termination that is faster to terminate than screw-cup connectors and more reliable than push-in types in high-ceiling commercial environments. Together these features reduce installation time per speaker — meaningful on projects involving dozens of pendants — and minimise the risk of connection failures discovered only during commissioning.
