Chief PG2A — Small projector security cage, black
The Chief PG2A is a lockable steel security cage designed to protect ceiling-mounted projectors from theft and accidental damage in high-risk environments such as school gymnasiums, houses of worship, and public venues. It fully encloses the projector and mount assembly, accepting projectors up to 19,1 × 40,6 × 40,6 cm. The cage integrates seamlessly with Chief RPA and RPM series projector mounts and can also clamp onto 1" and 1.5" NPT pipe used with RSM and RSA ceiling plates — making it compatible with the vast majority of Chief ceiling mount installations already in the field. An adjustable front opening accommodates varying lens positions, while hinged access doors simplify filter cleaning and lamp replacement without disturbing the projector's alignment.
Retrofit Security Without Realignment
The PG2A is engineered to mount directly onto existing Chief RPA and RPM series projector mounts, as well as 1" and 1.5" NPT diameter poles used with RSM and RSA ceiling plates. This means the cage can be added to an already-commissioned installation without touching the projector's focus, zoom, or keystone settings. In schools, auditoriums, or any shared space where the projector is ceiling-mounted and regularly used, this eliminates the need for a full re-setup after a security upgrade — a significant labour saving and a guarantee that image quality is not compromised during the security retrofit.
Open-Air Design Prevents Overheating
Rather than sealing the projector inside a closed enclosure, the PG2A uses an open-air steel cage construction that keeps the projector's built-in vents unobstructed. Projector overheating is one of the most common causes of premature lamp failure and unplanned shutdowns in permanent installations. By maintaining free airflow around the unit, the cage avoids creating a heat trap — protecting lamp life and ensuring the projector continues to operate within its thermal envelope, which is especially relevant in gym or auditorium environments where the projector may run for extended periods.
Maintenance Access Without Disassembly
The PG2A features hinged doors that open without requiring removal of the cage from the mount. Projector lamps in public installations typically need replacing every 2,000–5,000 hours, and air filters need periodic cleaning. With the cage installed, maintenance staff can access the lamp compartment and filter through the hinged panels — avoiding the cost and downtime of fully dismounting the security cage each time routine service is needed. The adjustable front opening also allows the lens cap and zoom/focus rings to remain accessible for fine-tuning after content changes.
10-Year Warranty Backs Long-Term Installations
Chief backs the PG2A with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. For permanent installations in education or corporate environments — where the mount and cage may outlast multiple projector generations — this long warranty horizon reduces the total cost of ownership and provides confidence that the security hardware will remain serviceable over the full lifecycle of the installation.
