The Chief CMA340 is a projector stabilization kit designed for ceiling-mounted projection systems that use 1.5" NPT extension columns. It addresses a real installation challenge: long drops are prone to sway caused by building vibrations — from HVAC units, foot traffic, or general structural movement — which can disturb image alignment and create safety concerns. Eliminates Vibration-Induced Projector Sway

When a projector is suspended from a long extension column, even minor building vibrations — from HVAC systems, elevator movement or foot traffic on upper floors — can cause the column to oscillate. This introduces a slow, periodic drift in the projected image that is especially visible in high-ambient-light rooms or during detailed presentations. The CMA340 addresses this by attaching four tensioned cables from the column to solid anchor points in the ceiling structure, converting a cantilevered drop into a braced, rigid assembly. The result is a stable, shake-free image regardless of what is happening in the building around it.

Mandatory Safety Measure for Drops over 61 cm

Chief's own installation documentation explicitly requires the CMA340 for any extension column exceeding 61 cm (24") in length. At that drop depth, the unsupported column length introduces both a mechanical resonance risk and a safety concern: if the column is bumped during maintenance or by building movement, unbraced assemblies can shift. By specifying the CMA340, integrators meet Chief's installation compliance requirements and protect themselves from liability in the event of an incident. The CMA340 carries a 226,8 kg (500 lbs) weight capacity, far exceeding the weight of any practical projector-and-mount combination. This rating reflects the tensile strength of the cable-and-turnbuckle assembly under lateral load, not just the hanging weight. In practice it means the stabilization system will not become the weak point in the installation, even in large-format or heavy laser projector setups where the mount assembly itself may weigh several kilograms.

Complete, Ready-to-Install Hardware Kit

The CMA340 ships with everything needed for a single installation: one pole clamp that grips the 1.5" NPT column, four steel wire rope cables (each approximately 305 cm long), and four turnbuckles for tensioning. The turnbuckles are a practical detail — they allow the installer to fine-tune cable tension independently on all four runs, compensating for ceiling anchor positions that are not perfectly symmetric. No additional hardware sourcing is required on site, reducing installation time and avoiding mismatched components.
