Stereo from a Single Ceiling Location

The D103DT carries two independent 1-inch aluminum tweeters mounted coaxially — one assigned to the left channel, one to the right. This Dual Tweeter (DT) configuration means a single speaker drop delivers genuine stereo imaging rather than a mono blend. In practice this is decisive for hallways, bathrooms, narrow kitchens, covered patios or any space where ceiling joists, HVAC runs or structural beams make a two-speaker layout impractical. Market's Smallest 10-Inch Cut-Out

Origin Acoustics' proprietary mounting structure allows the D103DT to use a 10.375-inch cut-out diameter — the same rough-in size as conventional 8-inch in-ceiling speakers — while housing a full 10-inch woofer. For retrofit projects this is significant: existing 8-inch holes in plasterboard can often be reused, eliminating patching and repainting. Tool-Less Bayonet Mounting System

Installation uses Origin's tool-less bayonet ring and spring-loaded multi-point clips rather than traditional dog-leg brackets. The clips engage multiple contact points around the frame, distributing clamping force evenly across the ceiling surface. This reduces localised stress cracks in plasterboard and eliminates the micro-vibration transfer that dog-legs can pass back into the ceiling — a common source of buzz in high-SPL installs. Patented DPSD™ Tweeter Technology

The Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DPSD™) is Origin Acoustics' patented tweeter design. Unlike a conventional dome tweeter, the DPSD suspension attaches at both the voice-coil former and the peak of the dome. This dual-attachment geometry allows the crossover point to be set significantly lower than a standard 1-inch tweeter without risking excursion damage, resulting in a broader overlap region with the woofer and smoother power response through the critical midrange. Tri-Linear Configuration (TLC) for On-Axis Realism

The TLC describes Origin Acoustics' coaxial transducer stack in which tweeter(s), midrange path and woofer share a common acoustic axis and are arranged so the listener's ear receives all frequency bands from effectively the same point in space. The pivoting tweeter assembly can be angled toward the listening position, so in a home theater where the speaker is offset from the seating, the high-frequency driver still aims at ear level rather than straight down. Paintable Magnetic Micro-Bezel Grille
