Super Rod SRR1R2 — Magnetic R1+R2 continuity test link leads

The Super Rod SRR1R2 R1 R2 Link is a pair of magnetic test link leads built to speed up R1 + R2 continuity testing on electrical installations. Aimed at electricians and inspectors carrying out periodic and installation testing, it removes the slow, fiddly step of disconnecting conductors at the consumer unit. The kit contains two 750mm leads with high-strength magnets that bridge circuits during continuity checks, helping complete condition reports faster while reducing the chance of damaging terminals or connections. With one PZ2 lead for most devices and one PZ1 lead suited to RCBOs with deep terminals, it covers a wide range of boards. It must only be used on safely isolated, locked-off installations.

Faster R1 + R2 Testing

Faster R1 + R2 Testing

The link uses a high-strength magnetic connection to bridge line and CPC at the board so R1 + R2 continuity readings can be taken quickly. Because there is no need to physically disconnect and reconnect conductors at each circuit, the time spent per board drops noticeably and condition reports and installation certificates get completed faster. For an electrician working through a full distribution board, this turns a repetitive, time-consuming task into a quick connect-and-read operation, meaning more circuits tested per visit and less time spent on site for the same job.

Protects Terminals & Connections

Protects Terminals & Connections

Traditional R1 + R2 testing involves loosening and removing conductors, which over many test cycles risks nicking strands, over-tightening, or leaving connections poorly re-seated. By making the test link magnetically rather than disturbing the wiring, the SRR1R2 eliminates that repeated handling. In practice this means fewer damaged terminals, lower risk of call-backs caused by loose connections after testing, and greater confidence that the installation is left exactly as it was found — an important point when signing off safety-critical work.

PZ1 and PZ2 Leads for Wide Board Coverage

PZ1 and PZ2 Leads for Wide Board Coverage

The kit includes two 750mm leads: a PZ2 version suited to most devices and a PZ1 version designed for RCBOs with deep terminals. This pairing means one tool set works across the mix of MCBs and RCBOs found in modern consumer units, rather than struggling to seat a single magnet style into different terminal depths. The end result is reliable contact whatever the board layout, so the user is not left improvising on the deep-terminal protective devices that are increasingly common in current installations.

Safe-Isolation Use Only

Safe-Isolation Use Only

The R1 R2 Link is strictly for use on safely isolated installations: the distribution board must be isolated and locked off before use, and it must never be used where live parts are accessible. This is a genuine fit-for-purpose consideration rather than a marketing line — it confirms the tool belongs in a dead-testing workflow alongside proper safe-isolation procedure. Knowing this up front avoids misuse and ensures the magnetic link is deployed only in the controlled conditions it is designed for, protecting the operator carrying out the work.

Maintain Magnet Strength Over Time

Maintain Magnet Strength Over Time

Because performance depends on the magnetic bond, Super Rod advises regularly checking that the link still holds with full strength, as certain environmental factors can gradually demagnetise a magnet. Building this quick check into routine test-equipment maintenance keeps readings dependable and prevents intermittent or weak connections that could otherwise be mistaken for a circuit fault. For the user this means consistent, trustworthy results over the working life of the tool rather than puzzling over readings caused by a tired magnet.
