Compact USB-C Gen 2 dock for home and mobile offices
CalDigit USB-C SOHO Dock
The CalDigit USB-C SOHO (Small Office Home Office) Dock is a compact, bus-powered docking station built around full 10Gb/s USB-C Gen 2 performance — double the throughput of standard Gen 1 hubs. Designed for remote workers, creative professionals, and anyone needing a capable travel dock, the SOHO Dock expands a single USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4 port into a complete desktop setup: two 4K displays, fast card readers, and host charging in one portable unit. Compatible with macOS, Windows, and iPadOS with true plug-and-play operation — no drivers required.

True Gen 2 10Gb/s USB-C Performance
Most portable USB-C hubs on the market run at Gen 1 (5Gb/s) and hit a ceiling that prevents features like 4K 60Hz output or dual-display operation without an external power supply. The SOHO Dock operates at the full 10Gb/s Gen 2 bandwidth, which effectively doubles the available throughput from the host port. In practice, this means a single bus-powered connection can simultaneously carry 4K video, fast SSD data transfers, card reader streams, and USB peripherals without bottlenecking any of them. For anyone transferring large RAW files from a fast UHS-II card while running an external display, this bandwidth headroom is the difference between a fluid workflow and constant waiting.

Dual 4K Display from a Portable Dock
Dual-monitor output has historically required a mains-powered full-size dock. The SOHO Dock achieves this in a compact, bus-powered form factor by leveraging its 10Gb/s bandwidth headroom. It outputs one 4K 60Hz signal via HDMI 2.0b and a second via DisplayPort 1.4. On Windows, both displays can run independently in extended mode at 4K 30Hz each; on macOS and Windows, dual 4K 60Hz mirrored mode is supported. This makes it a practical solution for users who travel with a laptop but need a proper two-screen workspace when they arrive at a client site or hotel desk — without carrying a mains adapter for the dock.

Up to 90W Pass-Through Laptop Charging
When connected to a USB-C power adapter (not included, up to 100W input), the SOHO Dock passes up to 90W back to the host laptop — enough for most USB-C-charged notebooks including 13-inch and 14-inch MacBook Pro and equivalent Windows ultrabooks. The dock draws what it needs for its own peripherals and delivers the rest to the host, so users can run a full desktop setup — displays, drives, card readers — from a single cable to the laptop while keeping it charged. A minimum 18W USB-C charger is required to enable pass-through; without one the dock runs on bus power from the laptop itself.

Balanced Port Selection Without Power Conflicts
CalDigit deliberately limited the SOHO Dock's port count to stay within the power budget a laptop USB-C or Thunderbolt 3-4 port can realistically supply. Many competing hubs add ports freely but cause power instability when everything is connected at once — peripherals drop out, displays flicker, or the host laptop loses charge. With the SOHO Dock, all ports remain stable under full load. The selection covers the essentials: one USB-C data port (10Gb/s), one USB-A data port (10Gb/s), HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4, SD 4.0 UHS-II, and microSD UHS-II — nothing superfluous, nothing missing for a professional mobile setup.

UHS-II SD and microSD Card Readers
Both card readers on the SOHO Dock are rated to the SD 4.0 UHS-II specification, which supports bus speeds up to 312MB/s — fast enough to keep pace with the fastest V60 and V90 SD cards used in modern mirrorless cameras and cinema cameras. This is a meaningful step above the UHS-I readers found in most docks, which cap out around 104MB/s and create a real bottleneck when offloading large video files. For photographers and videographers who regularly move high-bitrate footage off card, the faster readers reduce offload time substantially and allow the dock to serve as a capable field transfer station even when bus-powered from a laptop.
