Chief FCAVCA

The Chief FCAVCA Variable Column Adapter solves one of the most persistent challenges in large-venue AV installations: mounting displays on structural columns and beams rather than standard flat walls. Designed for use with Chief Fusion, Fusion Modular and Thinstall Swing-Arm mounts, the FCAVCA bridges the gap between the mount and a wide variety of column types — including I-beams, box-beams, trusses, and both steel and concrete columns up to 48,3 cm in width. It supports both landscape and portrait orientations and carries a substantial load capacity of 90,7 kg, making it suitable for large commercial display installations in lobbies, atriums, retail spaces and event venues where wall mounting is simply not an option.

Broad Structural Column Compatibility

The FCAVCA accepts column widths up to 48,3 cm (482 mm) and is designed for steel and concrete columns alike, including I-beams, box-beams and truss structures. In large venues — airports, hotel lobbies, retail atriums, conference centres — flat wall space near the ideal viewing position often doesn't exist, and running cable or conduit to a new wall mount point is expensive. The FCAVCA removes that constraint entirely, allowing the display to go exactly where the audience is, anchored to the building's structural skeleton. Two optional U-bolt accessory kits extend compatibility further: the FCAVCSU80 for 20 cm × 15 cm I-beam flanges and the FCAVCSU20 for round poles of 3,8–5,1 cm diameter.

Landscape and Portrait Orientation Support

The FCAVCA supports both landscape and portrait display orientations, which is determined by the specific Chief swing-arm or modular mount attached to it rather than the adapter itself. This matters in multi-display or mixed-orientation deployments — for example, a wayfinding screen in portrait alongside a wide-format promotional display in landscape, both mounted to the same column. Because the orientation decision is deferred to the mount selection rather than being fixed at the adapter level, installers keep full design flexibility without needing a different adapter for each use case.

With a weight capacity of 90,7 kg (200 lbs), the FCAVCA comfortably supports large commercial flat panels that are common in high-footfall venues. At this capacity, a 75–86-inch commercial display plus mount hardware sits well within the rated load, providing a meaningful safety margin. This is relevant at the specification stage — a generous rated capacity means the adapter does not become the limiting factor in display selection, and it reduces the risk of having to revisit the mount design if the client later upgrades to a larger screen.

Fusion and Thinstall Mount Ecosystem Integration

The FCAVCA is purpose-built for Chief's Fusion, Fusion Modular and Thinstall Swing-Arm mount families, and is confirmed compatible with models MSM1U, LSM1U, MTMS1U, MTMP1U, MTM1U, LTM1U, FMSWM, TS118SU, TS218SU and TS318SU. For integrators already specifying Chief mounts, this means the FCAVCA slips into an existing product ecosystem without requiring custom fabrication or third-party adapters. Tilt, extension and articulation characteristics are inherited directly from whichever Fusion or Thinstall mount is paired with it, so the installer's familiarity with those products transfers without a learning curve.
